Industry Entrance Examination

All applicants must present their high school diploma or G.E.D., and verification of age. You must be 18 years or older to take the exam.

The test is given by a representative of the Joint Apprenticeship Committee, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.; the first week of each month (Monday  through Friday); at the Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Training Center, located at 8750 Younger Creek Drive, Sacramento, CA. (Younger Creek Drive is off Elder Creek Road, between Florin-Perkins & South Watt). 

This test takes approximately three (3) hours and covers basic mathematics up through 1st year Algebra. The applicant must pass this test with a minimum score of 65% to qualify.

All Applicants who fail the test will be required to:

1.            Take a basic mathematics course at a Junior College or Adult Education Program and furnish verification that they have completed the course with a “C” or better grade, or:

 2.            Obtain a math tutor that will verify that they are prepared to retake the test for a second and final time.

All applicants, who pass the test, are given a list of signatory employers in this area. The applicant has to find their first (1st) job. The Joint Apprenticeship Committee does not do applicant placement.

Effective July 1, 2008 all applicants MUST pass a drug test prior to being dispatched to their first job.
